Prof. Varkey Mathew took charge as Principal in October 2011. He had been serving as Lecturer in the Department of Chemistry in Baselius College, Kottayam from September 1976, and as Professor and Head of the Post Graduate Department of Chemistry from 2006,he also acted as Vice-Principal of the College from 2007 till March 2009, when he retired.
Prof. Varkey Mathew completed his Pre-Degree and B.Sc. courses in CMS College, Kottayam graduating from Kerala University in March 1974, there upon passed M.Sc. in Analytical Chemistry from Kerala University in First Class and Second Rank in June 1976.
Prof. Varkey was member of various examination boards of Kerala and Mahatma Gandhi Universities including the Chairman of M.Sc. Examination Boards. He was Convener of the Committee for NAAC accreditation in Baselius College Kottayam during 2001 – 2008, and also the Coordinator of the UGC Cell of the College from 1996 to 2006.
Prof. Varkey Mathew is active in Energy and Environment conservation activities. He is an office bearer of Energy Conservation Society and Secretary of People’s Forum for Sustainable Development. As an activist he has done research work in waste management and has obtained a Patent for the process of manufacturing Cellulose Nanofiber from banana and plantain wastes, in addition he is awaiting a patent for the processing of Water Hyacinth to produce Particle boards, Pressed boards, High Density Fiber boards and Medium Density Fiber boards.
As a sports person, Prof. Varkey Mathew had been a Wrestling champion of Kerala University in 1971-72, and a member of the Kerala University Hockey team in 1972-73. he was the captain of CMS College Hockey team 1973-74.
Mr. Rajan Mathew Brings in much experience, as a former employee of the Mahatma Gandhi University. He served the University as Higher Grade Section Officer/Administrative Officer/Manager of Guest House etc for 20 years. After retiring from the University, he joined the HCCMAT as Registrar in 2008.
Ex- Subedar Major Jacob V J joined the HCCMAT team and took over the charge of Office Superintendent on 01 June 2016. He had served in the Indian Army from 1980 to 2010. Spanning over 30 years of his illustrious and unblemished service at various Army establishments in India and abroad he got ample opportunities to lead and manage the office staff at prestigious offices of Indian Army including Army Headquarters, New Delhi, Northern & Southern Command Headquarters, Corps Headquarters at Srinagar & Leh (J&K) etc.
He was an Instructor at Indian Military Training Team at Bhutan to impart training to Bhutan Army personnel during 1996 to 1999.
After his retirement from Army, he was the Administrative Officer of Cecil Convent Senior Secondary School, Ambala (Haryana) until he joined the HCCMAT.
