MINDS – Association of Management Studies

Holy Cross College of Management and Technology, Puttady is surrounded by the natural beauty of tea gardens and the heavenly silence. ‘MINDS’  the association of management students(BBA) of the Holy Cross College is working successfully for the last 4 years MINDS conducts remarkable events in the open ground of the Holy Cross College.

A strong committee of 10 members under the supervision of  Department HOD Mr.Robin Jacob Kuruvilla is the backbone of MINDS. In the 2010-2011 academic year MINDS conducted the inter-college management fest, ‘TWILIGHT -2011’ on 17th and 18th of 2011February. Good  participation of many business and management colleges made the program a big success

Mr. George Sleeba (Former CMD of FACT Cochin and joint MD of V-Guard) was the chief guest of the event. He shared his thoughts and experience in the business world with the management aspirants Best Manager, Product launching, Network Gaming, Theme show, Theme dance, etc were the main attractive events of ‘TWILIGHT’. Apart from the Management meet, MINDS arranged monthly debates and discussions based on current affairs and business subjects. 

XAITER’S-ASSOCIATION FUNCTION OF COMPUTER SCIENCE DEPARTMENT

The Computer Science Association of the Holy Cross College is named  XAITER’S(excellent Association of the IT Education and Research Students)

During the year 2010-2011, the Association had several programs.The activities were flagged off by giving a welcome to the newcomers by the senior students.Later, XAITER’S day was conducted.The entire students of the college participated in the programs. Quiz, Network Gaming, and Cultural events were the main events.

By the middle of the academic year. Power Cobb Technologies conducted a seminar in the college on Linux and choosing a career in Linux-Focus Infotech and Logic Solutions came to the college for conducting seminars. Logic solutions conducted a placement drive for final year students. Alphonsa Kurian, 3rd  year BCA students got placed in the company

This year, the functions of association start by giving welcome to the freshers. We are planning to conduct the association day by the month of September or October. All the students of the college will be invited to participate in the programs. We plan to conduct an Inter-College Technical fest by the end of 2011 Industrial visit and seminars will be conducted. A placement orientation class will be given to the 2nd and 3rd-year students. Students will be given chances for attending placement drivers in a nearby college. We expect to conduct placement drive in the college by Logic Solutions, Focus Infotech, and few other companies.

ANGELS – Association of the English Department

English Department of Holy Cross College of Management and Technology, in the year 2013-2014 conducted many programs. Association of Journalism and English literature students gave the name “Angels”, for the association.

In this Academic year 2014-15, the English Association is planning to conduct various programs

In January 2014 our department staff & Students conducted a one-day seminar on “News Reporting”. Mr. Dinakar KG (Chief bureau, Kairali Tv) was the chief guest. 2nd year BA students made a short film “Oru Kai Dooram”, which was a great attempt to promote the eternity of the students. Our 3rd-year students, Jobin Thomas, Arun Kumar CD, made investigation news magazine “We Tribals” was another attempt done by our creative talented students. Miss Swetha R Nair got university rank for 3rd & 4th-semester examinations.

Nature Club

Nature club arranges site visits, trekking, and camps in various places to intensify the human bond to Nature, and the students are encouraged to be lovers of Nature. With the help of this Nature Club, the College campus is maintained as a plastic-free zone. 

National Service Scheme

Two units of N.S.S. are active on the campus. They host camps and social works in various locations. The N.S.S. units function successfully under the program officers with co-operation and support from students and staff. 

Women’s cell

The MG University observed 2005-2006 as a women empowerment year. Holy Cross College is actively involved in women empowerment programs. As a part of this, a women’s cell is functioning on the campus. Under this, the College organizes various seminars and symposiums for women empowerment. The roles of women in society, career opportunities for women students, etc are promoted. A counseling center under the cell offers guidance and support to women students.
